FOMSCU in lines • FOMSCU was established in 1978 as an innovative school • School Mission: To create an educational system aiming at graduating a competent physician able to meet the individual and community health needs, not only at the local level, but also at the international level and able to adapt to & deal with national and international variables.

School Experience • Established system for regular evaluation and feedback for all activities • Program evaluation was done several times (WHO 2009, Network: TUFH, (Toward unity for health 2012) External reviewers) • Qualified faculty members (QA, MHPE) master of health profession education 16 (block quality)
Current Situation • School database is available. • Program & course specifications were approved by faculty council on 3/2005 (revised 7/2007) • Self study is finished and approved by Faculty Council in July 2005.
Current Situation • Two Annual reports were submitted in March 2006 & Feb 2007 • Developmental engagement site visit was conducted from 18 to 20 March 2006 • A report of Developmental engagement team is received September 2006. • Follow up visit in 29/4/2007
Challenges faced the school in applying quality assurance system • Faculty Related: • Personnel • Resistance. • Lack of interest. • Burden of work. • System • Horizontal & vertical integration between basic & clinical sciences. • Non departmental system. • Varieties of activities: classes, field activities, labs, skill lab …etc. • Project related: • Limited incentives
Effective leadership and quality assurance system • Success of the QAS needs the presence of an effective leader who is able to • Share in the planning • Build team • Manage conflicts • Follow up regularly • Establish rewards system • Correct any deviation from the plan
