CONWY CASTLE By: Josh N.
Conway castle is located in Conway, Wales . It was built by Edward the first, during his conquest of Wales in 1283-1289. It’s amongst the finest surviving medieval fortifications in Great Britian. It occupies a coastal ridge, originally overlooking an important crossing point over the River Conway.
The castle was built from local and imported stone by James of St. George. It did not fight a lot during the War of the Roses 1455 - 1485
TOWERS • Their were eight large 70 – foot towers at this castle. Their were four on each side. Some of the towers had space for stores, had limited accommodation, had a bake house, and may have been used by the castle’s garrison.
Their were many different leaders of Conway castle during the Middle Ages they were Edward I, Edward II, and Richard I.
