4 MAIN TYPES OF TRACKS 1. Junior Colleges (JCs) or Millennia Institute 4. Private Schools & Institutions (LaSalle/NAFA etc) Prepares students for the GCE ‘A’ level examination Curriculum is determined by the school and alternative options are provided for students 2. Polytechnics 3. Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Trains students with relevant skills for the workplace in a knowledge-based economy. Equips students with technical knowledge and skills relevant to the industry.
NORMAL (ACADEMIC) OPTIONS After the release of the Sec 4 N-Level results students can: Choose to take the O-level exam one year later. Enrol in a 1-year Poly Foundation Program. Enrol in a 2-year Higher Nitec course at ITE which leads me to the Polytechnic (DES-to-Poly) Enter ITE to take Nitec courses, which lead to Higher Nitec.

SECONDARY 2 STREAMING EXERCISE Subjects offered must be able to: meet the pre-requisites of post-secondary courses be within the school’s resources and administrative constraints cater to pupils’ needs and expectations Subjects are allocated based firstly on merit, then on Option.
