Aims of the Course The course aims to: • Provide a post-qualifying framework to structure the continual development needs of professionals working in health and social care settings. • Demonstrate the critical thinking and problem-solving skills associated with ‘graduateness.’ • Continue to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes related to their role. • Demonstrate the skills needed for independent learning and development. • Maximise opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and development. • Exercise political awareness at an organisational, professional and national level. • Challenge existing practice and, where appropriate, make recommendations for change and development.
What makes up a degree? Modules are usually 20 credits (one term part time) Advancing Practice/Dissertation = 40 credits (two terms)
Academic Year You should be able to complete your degree within the 5 years that is allowed (7 years if you take Level 5 first)
Accreditation of Prior Learning • APCL and APEL • Accumulated • Transferred • Exemption Can be claimed for Level 4,5 or 6
Regulations Quality Assurance Attendance – 80% rule
Course fees and Study Leave • Fees are listed on the module flyers. • If you are employed by HSSD then you and your manager should have also completed a study leave form • Beware of Pay-back
