  3. What is a Web 2.0 Application? • a new trend that aims to facilitate creativity and collaboration • How are they used? • Used to connect to other people worldwide • Share ideals, random thoughts, photos, homework, etc.

Common 2.0 Applications • Facebook • A application that started out as a way for students over the world to communicate with each other. • View each other’s notes, as well as, schedules • Today it is available for anyone to communicate • Find old classmates • Find friends • Share pictures • Share stories and ideas

  5. Common 2.0 Applications • Twitter • A very popular instant messaging system and mini-blog that lets a person send brief messages up to 140 characters in length to a list of followers. • Pictures and videos can also be sent via twitter blogs/messages.

Pros and cons • Pros • Employees use these sites as references • Positive attitude can result in the gain of an unexpected or expected job • Where are you? • Help someone find you • Ex: Something happens to you and you don’t have cell service • Cons • Not reading not Terms of service • Result in termination because of small unread rules • Profile is never really completely visible • Employees use these sites as references • Negative attitude can result in loss of a job or no chance at a job • Where are you? • You never know who is watching you • May result into a bad or really bad situation • Stalker • Unwanted Company

Quizlet • Students : • students can come here and find quizzes on specific subjects in those time they cramming for a test • notes are presented on flash cards • Personally feel flash cards have always been a great way to memorize and study. • Cons • If you sign in with Facebook or Flicker • All basic information is shared • Pros • Other friends on Facebook may have logged in with their account • You may have class with them • You can view their recent quizzes, which may help you as well, instead of having to search

  14. blackboard • Students • Mostly for online class learning • Students can communicate with other students through email without having to create one • Personally built in to the classes website • Students can see and calculate their grades as the class goes on • Better than the hassle than having to find a teacher to find out what your grades are • Con • If the student doesn’t regularly check the site they may fail • Pro • Students can have the time to work and still pass the class because they don’t have to worry about missing days in the classroom
