Project Overview • Ethnographic Study - interviews, observations, review of documents • Capacity - what capacities do people bring to these circumstances? • Continuity - how do they experience time through these circumstances? • Identity - how does seeking treatment affect their identity?
Accomplishments to Date • 24 Interviews with patients completed • Equitable gender mix • All the women have a diagnosis of breast cancer • The men have a range of cancer diagnoses • Interviews with key informants nearing completion • Observations: Chemotherapy & Radiation Therapy areas have been planned
The next 6 months… • Detailed analysis of transcripts • Writing up ‘segments’ of the experience • Composing an ethnographic account of the experience • The final report • Conference papers developed • Writing for publication • Working with groups of cancer care professionals
