1916 in our school By 4th class (Diversity Committee), Scoil Chroí Naofa, Athenry.
Receiving the flag and Proclamation • On Tuesday 8th of December, some Daddies in our school, who are members of the army, presented us with our flag and proclamation.

What else did we do?? • Mr. Wallace presented a historic powerpoint on 1916 to the staff and senior classes.
What else did we do? • The Abbey Theatre and Baboró presented ‘Me Mollser’ a short drama set in 1916 to the three senior classes.
What else did we do? • Students from Coláiste an Chláirín invited the senior classes to a tour in their school showcasing their 1916 projects.
What else did we do? • Brian Quinn, member of the Athenry Historical Society provided workshops on Athenry during 1916 to some classes.
Proclamation Day! • On Tuesday 15th of March, we celebrated the events of 1916 and the raising of our flag.

Hall displays • All classes did a project based on different themes of 1916. The staff and children assembled in the hall where children showcased their projects. We then opened up the hall to the public so parents/grandparents could view the projects.
Class projects • Junior Infants did their project on The National Flag.
Class Projects • Ms Tyrrell’s class and Senior infants did their project on school life 1916 and 2016.
Class projects • Ms Alani’s 1st class did their project on clothing in 1916.
Class projects • Mr Wallace’s 1st class did their project on buildings in 1916.
Class Projects • 2nd class did their project on Children of the Rising.
Class Projects • 3rd class did their project on Women of the Rising.
Class Projects • 4th class did their project on The Proclamation.
Class Projects • 5th class did their project on poems, songs and stories of 1916.
Class Projects • 6th class did their project on the Seven Signatories of the Proclamation.
Class Projects • 6th class (with the help of the knitting club), knitted an Irish flag.
