  2. Begotten before the Dawn and before the centuries the Lord our Saviour today appears to the world Jesu , Joy of Man's Desiring

  3. The feast of Epiphany is the continuation of the mystery of Christmas with a grandeur of its own. Its name means Manifestion. It honors God’s apparition in the midst of men. The Greak Church gives to this feast, the venerable and mysterious name of Theophany that signifies a divine Apparition. Orientals call this Solemnity the Holy Lights. We name this feast the Feast of the Kings in remembrance of the Magi who came to Bethlehem.

  5. Jesu , Joy of Man's Desiring Opening their treasures, the Magi offered the Lord gold, frankincense and myrrh.

  6. Jesu , Joy of Man's Desiring The star sparkles like a flame; it points out God, the Kingof ings. The Magi saw it and offered their gifts to the great King.

  7. Shine out, Jerusalem : for your light has come ! The Glory of the Lord is rising on you. Jesu, allow my joy to abide ! The nations will come to your light and kings to your dawning brightness.

  8. O the unspeakable joy of your birth ! But joy more unspeakableof yourEpiphany ! In this nuptial feast, the Church your Bride , newly born, receives the queenly honors. We shall sing, O Jesus, with enthusiastic hearts this noble antiphon where three mysteries are melded into the one of your COVENANT with us.

  9. Today, the star guided the Magi to the crib ; Jesu, allow my joy to abide ! Today, water is changed into wine at the wedding banquet ; Today, in the Jordan, Christ Jesus wanted to be baptized by John, in order to save us. Alleluia !

  10. God has saved us, and called us to be holy, not because of anything we ourselves have done, but for his own purpose and by his own grace. Jesu, allow my joy to abide ! This grace had already been granted to us, in Christ Jesus, before the beginning of time, but he has now been revealed by the Appearance of our Saviour Jesus. He has abolished death, and he has proclaimed life and immortality through the Gospel. 2 Tm 1,9-10

  11. In the Middle Ages, the pious faithful used to offer the priest gold, frankincense and myrrh, on the feast of Epiphany. They kept those signs of their devotion toward Mary' Son in honor of the three Magi as a blessing for their houses and their families. Jesu, allow my joy to abide !

  12. To honor the royalty of the Magi who came from East to the child of Bethlehem, families were accustomed to choose a king for this feast by casting lots. In banquets animated by a pure joy, in remembrance of the wedding banquet of Galilee, they would cut cake and one part would designate the King. , Jesu, allow my joy to abide ! Two portions were kept to be offered to the child Jesus and to Mary in the persons of the poor, that they might rejoice also in this day on the triumph of the humble and Poor King. Happy are the families who celebrate this feast of kings with a christian thought.

  13. Let us come back to contemplate the triumph of the royal Child whose Glory shines on this day with so bright a light. Let us be clothed with the Magi’s faith and obedience; let us worship the Divin Lamb above whom the Heavens opened; Jesu, allow my joy to abide ! Let us take place at the mystic banquet of Cana where our King resides three times manifested and three times glorious !

  14. Let us be happy in this beautiful day ; and In this feast of the theophany, of holy Lights,of the kings Magi, Let us contemplate with love the dazzling Light of our divine Sun, who climbs the skies with giant steps and pours out upon us light as abundant and sweet as it is resplendent.

  15. Jesu, allow my joy to abide ! All kings will do Him homage All nations become his servants. Alleluia ! Ps.72,11

  16. We pray to You, o Lord, that the splendor of your Glory may shine on our hearts, in order that we might pass through the darkness of this world and reach the native land of eternal light. Jesu, allow my joy to abide !

  17. How beautiful on the montains are the feet of one who brings good news,who heralds peace, brings happiness, proclaims salvation, and tells Zion : Jesu, allow my joy to abide !   Your God is King ! Is 52,7,7

  18. Break into shouts of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord is consoling his people, redeeming Jerusalem ! The Lord bares his holy arm in the sight of all the nations. Jesus,allow my joy to abide ! And all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. Is. 52, 9, 9-10

  19. We come to worship You, O Jesus, in this royal Epiphany. We hasten in the Magi's footsteps ; for we too saw the star and have come with haste. Jesu, allow mt joy to abide !
