  2. IRP- Motif Entry – Part 2 We have established that a motif is a re-occuring image, incident, or other element that is repeated significantly within a single work. We know that HALSE ANDERSON uses a tree motif in SPEAK. • Your task is to go back in to the novel SPEAK and revisit the tree motif as it develops in Marking Period THREE. Task Directions for VERBAL VISUAL Entry • Draw the tree that reflects this section of Melinda’s journey. Use words and aspects of the image to reflect her development and show your insight. Write a one paragraph explanation of the intent of you visual. Include a minimum of five lines of text in and around the tree you sketch to show understanding.
