Walsall Works Walsall Council launched Walsall Works in February 2012 with the aim of : supporting young people into work stimulating employment within local businesses The scheme will be offering 550 young people aged 16-24 the opportunity to access an apprenticeship.
Walsall Works Apprenticeship Sectors Walsall Works will unlock jobs with small and medium sized enterprises within the following growth sectors; Niche and high value manufacturing and engineering Environmental technologies and construction Financial, professional and business services Creative and digital services Health and social care Logistics
Walsall Works Criteria Focus on Walsall SME’s in growth and key sectors 2 year gap since last Apprentice 35 hour+ per week contract over 12 months minimum Minimum Hourly Rate of Pay (£3.00 - 16-17yr olds, £4.98 - 18-20yr olds, £6.08 - 21-24 yr olds) Employer committed to sustainable employment Employee to apprenticeship staff ratio

Walsall Works Starts Richard White (23), from Caldmore has started his apprenticeship with West Midlands Autos as a trainee mechanic. Josh Beck (19),from Shelfield Walsall has started his apprenticeship with Pinfold Patterns as a apprentice tool maker. Alex Jackson (18) from Coalpool Bloxwich has commenced his apprenticeship with Regent Engineering
Walsall Works Pre-Apprenticeship Scheme Walsall Works is offering 190 Pre-apprenticeship opportunities. We will supporting young people who are not ready to complete a full apprenticeship through a 20 week course which will enable them to gain : Literacy and Numeracy skills Employability skills A 4 week work placement Intensive job search Guaranteed job interview City & Guilds qualifications Level 1 qualifications
How will Walsall Works pay the £3,000 Appendix 2 form Send out Grant Agreement for signatures First payment after 4 weeks Second Payment at the midpoint of the apprenticeship Final payment on confirmation of sustainable employment
