Westlawn Summer Academy The primary focus of our Summer School program is to provide opportunities to accelerate learning and develop an interest in science and technology. Students will participate in hands-on science enrichment activities that will be offered to build interest in PLTW. After students complete a block of Reading and Math instruction, they will also receive the following curriculum support: Hands-on activities in Science, which will include: AMSTI, PLTW, & Mobile ACE Science Lab Support in the areas of Reading and Math, which will include: I-Ready Online Program (Remediation Support) Summer Reading Selection (Instructional Support)
In addition, we will offer on-site support in the areas of Reading, Math, and Science. These students will receive explicit small group instruction from highly qualified teachers . In addition, students will participate in the ACE science lab experiences provided to all summer school students in the late afternoons. Warrior Summer Enrichment Academy SY 2013-2014 Dates: June 2 – June 27, 2014 ( Schedule
Summer Feed Program Westlawn has been designated as a Breakfast & Dinner “Summer Feed” site. Westlawn Summer Academy students will be fed breakfast on-site at 7:30am and dinner on site at 3:30pm. After dinner the students will load their bus for dismissal.
Schedule -3 Meals A Day Breakfast-Light Snack served in cafeteria at Westlawn Middle School. Lunch-Students transported on bus to Ridgecrest Elementary for a Hot Lunch. Dinner- At 3:30pm, students will enjoy a Hot Meal prior to loading the bus for dismissal.

Dress Code for Summer Academy Students are NOT required to uniforms this summer. Must wear closed toe shoes As from the HCS Handbook: Clothing that displays antisocial, immoral, or illegal behavior is not allowed. Any article of clothing, jewelry or haircut depicting gangs, satanic, occult, violence, sex, drugs, alcohol, mutilation, or language that could be considered obscene or vulgar will not be allowed. Jewelry that could be used as a weapon is not allowed. All shorts/skorts, skirts and dresses must approach knee length. Slits in skirts and dresses must not be extreme or revealing. If so designed, shirts and blouses must be tucked in pants and or skirts. Oversized tops may not be worn below the waist.
Dress Code for Summer Academy Except for religious purposes, hats and head coverings may not be worn in school buildings. Sunglasses, gloves, bandanas, and house slippers may not be worn in school buildings. Bib overalls and/or suspenders must be snapped, hooked, and or buttoned and kept on shoulders. Belts must be buckled. Pants may not be oversized, too tights, or allowed to sag. Undergarments must not be exposed. Pant legs must be uniform length and may not drag the floor. Revealing tops, spandex, or clinging garments are not permitted.
Field Trip Incentive A student who attends 18 of the 20 days Summer Academy will be invited to attend the Incentive Field Trip scheduled on Friday, June 27, 2014. Students will be transported by bus.
