Brown Background Info: • -Providence, Rhode Island • -Founded in 1764 and is the 7th oldest college in the U.S. (Harvard = #1 !) • -2010 Princeton review named Brown the #1 College for Happiest students • -1st college to accept students from all religious affiliations • -235 buildings over 143 acres of land

School and Departments • Majors: • -Architecture, Area/ethnic/cultural/ gender studies, Arts visual and performing, Biological and biomedical sciences, business, management, marketing, computer and information sciences, education, engineering, English language and literature, foreign languages/literatures/linguistics, health professions and clinical sciences, History, Math, statistics, multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary studies, natural resources, conservation, philosophy, religion, physical sciences, psychology, public administration and social services, and social sciences.

School and Departments(cont.) • Admissions: • - Essay • -SAT Reasoning Test and 2 SAT subject tests OR ACT with writing section • Admission factors: • -Class rank ( 93% of the class of 2014 were in top 10% of high school class) • -Outside of school activities, rigor of classes, level of applicants interest, recommendations, SATs and SAT 2s

Student Life • -Population of Providence is around 176,000 • Many areas where students can meet up with each other; student lounges, spacious decks to frolic around, spacious classrooms and tons of labs/studios open to students • 3a.m. a booklet filled with activities and functions happening all over the campus

  6. Student Life (cont.) Students can use public transportation for free and go anywhere in the city (as long as they have their Student i.d. card)

  7. Student Life (On campus) • -There are 11 residential Greek houses (12-13% of Brown students are in fraternities/sororities) • -Also have secret societies. • -had The John D. Rockefeller Library donated to them

  9. Athletics • -Brown has 37 varsity sports(17 men, 20 women) • -64 physical education courses • -16 club sports( high level of competition w/ out the rigorous time commitment • -Also intramural sports for fun

  10. Housing • - First year students live in a community w/ 40-60 other 1st yr. students • -Community directors supervise and guide for peer counselors • -Upper classmen live in singles or suites • -Residence halls= 48 buildings over 1.6 million sq. feet

  12. ANY TYPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT you have to be a student that strives to work to the best of his or her ability; taking classes to challenge him or herself, dedicating hours to completing all work, and maintaining to be a notable citizen to society .
