Metric / English Conversions • You will be given a set of conversion factors, common ones are: • 1 in. (inch) = 2.54 cm (centimeters) • 1 ft (foot) = 0.3048 m (meters) • 1 mile = 1.61 km (kilometers) • 1 oz (ounce) = 28.35 g (grams) • 1 lb (pound) = 454 g (grams) • 1 qt (quart) = 0.479 L (liters)
English / Metric Conversions • For metric units you may have to convert with in the metric system if there is no direct conversion factor • Examples: • m to miles and miles to m • m → km → miles : miles → km → m • oz to kg • oz → g → kg • qt to ML • qt → L → ML
Examples NOTE: Example were done on the white board • 1) 0.6821 L to qt • 2) 3.4 x 107 mm to miles • 3) 8.30 mph to m/s
