The Grief The Grief’ is a deeply moving story. It is about a cab driver Iona whose son has recently died. His heart is full of grief. The Grief A passenger comes. He asks Iona to take him to viborg. Iona pulls the reins of the horse and the cab moves. He tries to tell his tale to the passenger who is an officer. The Grief When the cab reaches viborg, the officer leaves. Iona waits near an inn for an hour. Three passengers come to him. The Grief He tries to tell his story to him but soon finds him asleep. At last , he realises that nobody is prepared to show any sympathy to him or even to listen to him. The Grief At last, he tells the story of his grief to his horse, who seems to be listening to his master very attentively. Thus, Iona gets consolation from his horse. Q-1: Why does the cab driver Iona Potapov look quite white? Ans:-It is a snowy evening. Lona is covered all over with snow. He looks quite like a white ghost.

Q-3: Who has died? Ans:- Iona ‘s only son has died.
Q-4: What does lona want to talk about and why? Ans:- Lona’s only son has died. His heart is full of grief. He wants to lighten his grief by talking about it to someone.

Q6 - Now I have only a wife and the moist ground.’ What does ‘moist ground’ refer to? Ans-The’moist ground’ refers to the grave of Iona’s son, who has died recently.
