How much they make • A full-time USPS career mailman would start making around $42,000/year base salary. For part-time employees the pay rate starts at $19.00 per hour. The maximum base for a veteran city carriers is about $54,000 including paid holidays that increase the hourly pay. • A full-time rural mail carrier earns about $51,000 a year, but this is based on a 48-hour work week.
Requirements • Mail carriers or mailmen have a wide variety of jobs and things that they have to do. Only U.S. citizens over the age of 18 are worthy, and other things such as exams and a physical will be necessary depending on the location. Also the hours may vary, some mail carriers start their job as early as 4:00 A.M. but normally it is around 6:00 A.M. Also you don’t need a college degree to be a mailman. You can have as low as a basic high school track.
Reasons why I want to be a mailman • The reasons why I want to be a mailman is when you are delivering mail you can walk, drive, or ride a bike. I would be on my bike because I enjoy riding my bike and if you work at some thing you like, then it really isn't work. Other than that, it pays really good, and it wouldn’t be that hard of work to me. The only exception, it would take me awhile to get used to waking up at 4:00am, or even 6:00am.
How it turns out • For me a mailman would be a fun job and it isn't hard. If I were to be a mailman, and if I was on a bike then I would burn about 1,000-1,500 calories depending on how long my mail route was, how hard the wind was blowing and in what direction, and if I had to make two routes in one day. • In fact there is a holiday made to thanking your mailman. It is February 4th and it is happy thank a mailman day.
