DO’s and Don’ts Don’t take yourself too seriously. It should be obvious, but social marketing is about being social, and that means you need a good personality to make your brand likable. Remeber that you are representing your organization. You must have good content and solid offers. Without well-produced, engaging content, any and all tactics you employ will most likely fail. The tried-and-true, strong call to action is just as important in social media as it is anywhere else. Be clear about what you want your audience to do after consuming your content or engaging with your brand. ( support us, donate for, join us, honor) Never forget that social is a two-way street. No one likes being talked at. Yes, broadcast your message, but remember to keep the lines of communication open in both directions. When contacted, always respond quickly and sincerely. Interact with people. Ask for testimonials and feedback. Build relationships. Don’t let the page sleep, update regularly. Askaround if you don’t know how to begin. Remember? Everybody is on SM ;-). Make sure to have your correct contact information ( address, email, phone number, website).
DO’s and DON’TS Don’t dive into social marketingunless you’re ready. You need objectives, goals and ways to measure success and accountability. Research and read. Don’t be a big brag. Know the difference between becoming a thought leader/organization and endless self-promotion. Don’t be afraid to try social marketing because it doesn’t rely on the traditional metrics you’re used to. Don’t change your profile picture/icon too frequently. People get familiar with your logo/patch/brand. Don’t add hundreds of people you don’t know to your network. Don’t feel like you have to be active to all social networks. Pick one , two maybe three and focus on these. Don’t’ update in rapid fire style Post anything you’ll be sorry later Don’t merely create social pages and think you are done. Instead, dig deeper and create a web presence that resonates with your target audience and promotes relationship building and sharing. Without a good website your social media effort are wasted. .

A clear description of who you are A simple, sensible Web address An easily-navigated site map Easy-to-find contact information Clear description of the mission, services, products Customer testimonials An obvious call to action Know the basics of SEO A design and style that's friendly to online readers Create a Newsletter If you’re looking to reach your customers, members or backers and stick to a tight budget, email marketing might do the trick. It’s your chance to keep your customers in the loop. .
