Problem Areas • Electronics Boxes behind • Parts shortages being worked; GSFC assuming some • IR detector performance • HST Project has agreed to Lot 7 at Rockwell • Installing IR#32 (low QE part into Build 1) • TECFIRE • Redesign complete with review on 1 July • Uses 18 (originally 3) TECs with conductive felt (GELVET) • Possible problem with pinholes in UV filters • Being assessed but may require in-situ painting WFC3 Monthly Status Review

IR Detector Status • In May, IPT and SOC believed that Lot 6 parts were acceptable • QE problem solved but noise still high • Subsequent DCL testing shows very poor stability over many hours • Ball overheated IR FPA#50 (50C limit; reached ~75C) • Science IPT and SOC selected FPA #32 is the best device for IR Build 1, due to the uncertainty in our ability to calibrate a device like FPA #50 • We have 3 other Lot 6 parts (only 1 other part similar to #32) • A second full process review at Ball week of July 8 or 15 • IR FPA Lot 7 starting at Rockwell Scientific • Well understood why Lot 6 QE much improved • Good reason advanced why #32" have much better stability • These involve separate process steps physically well separated in detector • Expect delivery to DCL in October and to Ball in early January • Has schedule implications for thermal vac and ground calibration WFC3 Monthly Status Review

UVIS-UV Filter Construction Thin Aluminum type coatings used in some UV filters are highly susceptible to pinholes Thin Aluminum coating Single substrate filter – UVIS 03 (F275W), Pinholes found before and after installation in filter wheel and thermal vacuum cycles at Moog. Dual substrate filter with gap – UVIS 15(F300X). Pinholes were found by Barr in UVIS 1,2,and 15 and ‘painted’ over. WFC3 Monthly Status Review
