Use hard turning instead of grinding • EXPLANATION: Turning hardened steel with PCBN, it is possible to obtain surface finishes comparable to those obtained when grinding. This alternative procedure eliminates coolant from the process (turning is tackled in dry conditions) and consequently the filtering equipment. These include greater process flexibility, reduced machine time, lower energy consumption, optional use of coolant and swarf recycling possibilities • CLASSIFICATION: • Topic: ENERGY CONSUMPTION • Machine Structure: - • Life Cycle phase: USAGE • Type of machine tools: LATHE, GRIND • Material selection: - • KEYWORDS: hard turning • SOURCES: H.K.
