  14. African American Life in the Industrial North • By the 1800’s, all Northern states had outlawed slavery. • So many lived & moved to the North. • But…they were still discriminated against. • Difficulty finding jobs • Most whites didn’t want to work with “them”

Role-Play A Dialogue • Students will pair up. • One student in each pair will assume the role of a factory owner, the other will assume the role of a worker. • You will respond to a series of questions about factory conditions and will role-play a conversation that would likely occur between the two. • You must stay in character at all times. • I encourage you all to use your reading guide sheet to help bring up points while conversing, or talking. • You will be graded on how well you participate, not how well you answer the questions. • Pairs will converse for 1 min.
