3. 4U English & 4U World History Bundle • Course Code – 4UENHI • Bundles together (2 credits – half day course) • CHY4U – Grade 12 World History since the Fifteenth Century • ENG4U– Grade 12 University English • Study the Europe and the world through history, novels, poetry, plays, music, photography, film, media, fashion, food, etc.

4. Issues of Indigenous Peoples in a Global Context • Course Code – NDW4M1 • This course provides students with an overview of the issues and challenges that confront indigenous peoples world wide. Students will develop an understanding of the concerns and aspirations of the world’s indigenous population, plan and conduct research on global issues that have an impact on indigenous peoples.

8. International Certificate Program (see ms. Basso) • Provides high school students the opportunity to become engaged global citizens. • Students earn a certificate by: • Studying an international language (not French) • Participating in intercultural communication workshops • Earning credits in internationally-focused classes • Gaining international experience locally and/or abroad • Universities have started to recognize this program as a beneficial addition to a students diploma. Eg. Huron @ Western offers $1000 entrance bursary

9. Things to Consider When selecting courses • Advanced Placement (AP) • Choose courses ending with “E” • Eg. SBI4UE, CHY4UE, SCH4UE, and SPH4UE • These courses support/prepare students interested in writing AP exams • These courses will be offered in semester one only

Advanced Placement (AP) • Any student can write an AP exam, however, it is usually senior students who take advantage of the opportunity. • Exams are written in May and registration takes place in February and March. • Not all universities accept AP credits, please do your research • There is a cost of $130 to write the exam, plus an approximate $30 fee for the study guide (highly recommended)

Give you the confidence to tackle the academic challenges that you can expect in University. 2. Credit: Entering University with AP credits gives you time to explore your field of interest, fast track, or pursue a double-major.

21. OSSLT • What if I find out in the spring, after I have already selected my grade 12 courses, that I was not successful on the OSSLT? • Make an appointment with your guidance/learning services counsellor to add the Ontario Literacy Course (OLC4O) in grade 12
