Total Grant Funding $400,000 (Grant timeline is three years) 1. Community outreach, involvement, and education Characterize sites by identifying past uses Determine type and degree of contamination Help with cleanup and redevelopment planning Brownfields Program Activities
The primary goal is Economic Development in our Community • Remove legal and physical barriers to development of eligible properties • Program participation is completely voluntary • Program is not “regulatory” • Brownfield sites as public “liabilities” or “blight” in our neighborhoods How Does the Public Benefit from a Brownfields Program?
The Program Goal is to Support Economic Development: • Write and submit work plan and budget to the EPA • Partnership with Environmental Consulting Firm(s) • Continue public outreach and education activities Next Steps
