Calendar • We have shared the Honors Google Calendar with all Honors students • Click the link in the email to add it to your Google calendar. • You can add the calendar through the Google Calendar app on your phone as well. • Dates and locations are subject to change.
Registration • Honors Students Have Priority Registration! • Honors courses are only open to Honors students. • They are first come first served, priority given based on seniority and Nursing majors.

Study Abroad • Participating in a Study Abroad program as an Honors Program member during your time at Ramapo College will allow you to become a global citizen. • Students who study abroad may apply for scholarships from the Hiden Family Endowment funds and the Century 21 Scholarship. • Students in the College Honors Program who enroll in a study abroad program that is at least 4 weeks long may substitute one study abroad course for HNRS 420.
Scholarships • Students should indicate their interest in being considered for Honors scholarships when they apply to study abroad through the Roukema Center. • Visit https://www.ramapo.edu/scholarships/scholarships-students-can-apply/ for Honors Scholarships • Scholarship deadline – October 29th • Study abroad deadline – Winter/Spring – October 1st, 2018 • Study abroad deadline – Summer/Fall – March 1st, 2019
Honors Spring Break Trip • Possibility of 2019 Spring Break Trip for Honors Students in Nepal • Service Trip would be 8-9 days. • Cost would be approximately $1000. • Please contact us if interested.

Senior Project Timeline • September 20th – Required senior project meeting, 1-2pm • September 30th – Timeline Completion • October 30th – 1st Check-In • Apply for IRB if needed • December 15th – 50% Completion • January 30th – 3rd Check-In • March 11th – Completion Form Due • April 3rd – The Honors Symposium.
Senior Project Process for Juniors • October 30th – Idea Form due • May 1st – Senior Project Proposal Form due
Graduation Applications • Please submit Applications for 2019 Graduation with College Honors by deadline • October 15th, 2018 for January Graduation • November 15th, 2018 for May or August Graduation
NRHC and Conference Info • Dr. Root must approve your proposal and 300 word abstract. • Proposal preparation with Dr. Root can be done by appointment before November 1st. • Baltimore, MD April 11-14th • A great experience, travel excursion and way to get involved in the Honors Program!
Creating A Proposal • Step 1—Study the conference theme. The conference theme provides some context for the conference. • Step 2—Write the proposal. Come up with an intriguing title that clearly states your project’s intent and makes a connection to the theme. Your project summary, or abstract, should be no more than 300 words. • Step 3—Choose your presentation category. Paper, Poster, Roundtable, or Idea Exchange • Step 4—Submit the proposal to Dr. Root by November 1st • Step 5—Conference decisions will be sent out in December. Visit NRHCHonors.org for more details.
Additional Notes • Proposal submissions should be based off of already completed research. • Please read NRHC website and instructions. • Please proofread submission thoroughly. • DO NOT submit to NRHC website, we will submit for you.
Co-curricular Requirements • General Meetings • 1 per semester • Academic Events: • Minimum 2 per year • Civic Engagement: • Minimum 10 hours per year (except for seniors) • Reflections due at the end of the year • Special Events: • Optional but encouraged • Honors Development Groups (First Year Students Only): • 10/13 in Fall, Community Service Project in Spring

Toys for Tots Honors Dance • December 1st, 7-10pm • Cost of Admission is one Toy
Honors Olympics • Year-long competition between Honors Development Groups • Every Special Event holds a point value • Points are gained through success within competitions, attendance, participation, and creativity • The end of the year is capped with the HDG Finals, an entire day of competitions, food, and fun.
