  2. Why? • To communicate how the work of VCSE organisations contributes to meeting local community safety needs • To ensure that PCCs understand the community safety concerns of VCSE organisations and their service users

  3. What? • Local VCSE networks, co terminus with the PCC areas • Supported by a local infrastructure or support and development organisation • Inclusive of the range of VSCE organisations in the area and reflective of the Home Office community safety priorities and local priorities

  4. The role of the local safer future communities network • Gather information and evidence around local community safety needs and how the VCSE can contribute to meeting these • Influence the PCC candidates’ manifestos • Influence the PCCs crime and policing plan • Ensure excluded groups and the vulnerable are heard and represented • Build links between the network and other strategic partners • Provide evidence of the success and impact of the network and of lessons for policy makers and practitioners

  5. Role of the network support organisation • Co-ordinate and manage a diverse network • Identify training and support needs of network partners • Provide evidence of the success and impact of the network and of lessons for policy makers and practitioners

  6. Process for identifying network support organisations • Organisations to coordinate the Safer Future Communities local networks have been identified in all PCC areas in England.
