Questions for Panel I: Partnerships Between Research Institutions and the Local Communities: Important Principles, Key Attributes, and Lessons Learned • What are potential goals for community engagement? • What are the core principles for effective community engagement? • What are the critical attributes of successful engagement strategies? • What specific approaches or strategies have you found effective for enhancing community engagement? • From your experiences, what have been some of the lessons learned regarding effective community partnerships? • Given the types of research that will be conducted at the NEIDL (i.e., basic and translational) along with the perceived risk of the research program and public perception, what are the key points that you wish to emphasize regarding community relations?
