Paul constantly defended his Apostleship • 1) Wasn’t original twelve nor was he chosen through the lot casting (Acts 1) • 2) He did not have personal encounter/ relationship with Christ. • 3) Did not suffer through events of the crucifixion as the other apostles did. • 4) Personal ambassador/messenger of Christ.

  3. The following facts affirm Paul's apostleship criteria: • Peter affirmed Paul's writings as scripture in 2 Peter 3:15,16 • 3. The Holy Spirit confirmed his calling through the church • 4. Paul is given the right hand of fellowship by Peter and the other apostles. (Galatians 2:9)

  4. Paul’s Background • Born to wealthy, Jewish Family • He had acquired Roman citizenship (certain rights) (Acts 22:28) • Study under tutelage of Gamaliel • Zealous for Judaism • Held position of authority • Present at the stoning of Stephen

  5. Vs. 13-16 Pattern of Salvation “Doctrine of Total Depravity” Total depravity is the fallen state of man as a result of original sin. The doctrine of total depravity asserts that people are by nature not inclined or even able to love God wholly with heart, mind, and strength, but rather all are inclined by nature to serve their own will and desires and to reject the rule of God.

Psalm 115:3; Isaiah 46:10
