Hyperbole Hyperbole – Using exaggeration to make a point She was so stuffed she thought she might explode. He was so hungry he could eat a cow.
Onomatopoiea Onomatopoiea – sound word The thunder made a low rumble. Tick tock, went the clock.
Alliteration Alliteration – repetition of beginning sound Susan slurped silly smoothies. Madeline made mats for Mary.
Personification Personification – giving human qualities to something not human The flowers danced in the breeze when I walked by. The spider winked at me when I came by.
