Objective • To get familiar with different cultures and economics. • Personal definition of acculturation: To be able to interpret behaviour or rituals from other people and to transfer it to your “culture”. Adapt to a different environment. • Acculturation is important to be able to focus on our academic performance.

  3. Problems • Encountered (general) problems: • Time management • Directions and Transportations • Languages • Food

  4. How to Solve? • Food and Language (Inscribed in)? • Need to adapt preferences to the available products • Different products • Different prices compared to our hometown • Dutch descriptions, wich we cannot understand • We derive a lot of methods to solve the problems: • Maps (transportation, markets, banks) • Apps • A 5-minute guide book • “How-not-to-Starve Guide”

  6. Reflections • Concordantly we agreed that the most essential problem is “how to get ‘the right’ food without understanding the Dutch language” • Divinding tasks: • Taking pictures of similar food • Disigning the layout • Making the presentation

Misinterpretations about the tasks (paradigm shift ) Different perspective of structure of assignments Different perception of time Solutions: Spontaneous remodelling of our product Discussing and debating Setting rules • Cooperative discussions • Concordant agreement on or objective and product • Coordination

Conclusions • Different Being patient butpoints of view • Different ways to debate and discuss • Slight language problems • What to do? • express our opinion cautiously to prevent: misinterpretions/offenses • set clear rules • Getting familiar with different behaviour: • Lunch schedule • Time definition
