  2. Symptoms • Pain and stiffness in the joints are the most common symptoms. The pain is get really bad after you exercise of do a physical activity. • When you have osteoarthritis, your joints become stiffer and harder to move over time. You get a rubbing, grating, or crackling sound when you move the joint. • When they say "morning stiffness" refers to the pain and stiffness you feel when you first wake up in the morning. The stiffness usually lasts for 30 minutes or less. You can help it go away fast by mild activity that "warms up" the joint. • During the day, the pain can get worse when you're doing something active and feel better when you are resting. After a while, the pain may be present when you are resting. It might hurt so bad that it wakes you up at night. • Some people might not have symptoms, even though x-rays show the changes of OA. • It can occur in any joint but most often it happens in the hands, knees, hips or spine.

  3. Prevalence • Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. • Osteoarthritis happens mostly in the over weight areas. • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say that 27 million Americans suffer from OA with more women than men that have the disease.

  4. Cause’s of the disorder • Osteoarthritis is a result of aging. It is also caused by years or working with your hands • Cartilage is the firm tissue that is around your bones at the joints and allows bones to slide over the other one. If the cartilage gets damaged and wears away, the bones rub together. This causes pain, swelling, and stiffness. • Bony spurs or extra bone will grow around the joint. The ligaments and muscles around the joint become weak and stiffer. • But the main cause of this disorder is mainly ageing Before age 55, OA occurs in men and women. After age 55, it is more common in women OA can run in your families. Being overweight helps OA to develop quicker the hip, knee, ankle, and foot joints because of all the extra weight • Any broken bones of fracture and and damaged joints can over time lead to OA. Jobs that involved being on your knees for long periods at a time working with your hands climbing up ladder any kind of physical labor and lead to OA. Playing sports that involve directs impact to your knees and joints like football any kind of twisting like wrestleing and playing basketball can give you OA down the rode. .

  5. Treatments for the disorder • OA cannot be cured. It will get worse over time. • You can have surgery, but other treatments can make it not as painful and make your life much better. Even though these treatments cant make it go away they can give you time before you need surgery. • You can buy over the counter pain meds witch relief you from the pain. • The most common med the doctors recommend is Tylenol. • You can also have Corticosteroids injected right into the joint to stop swelling and pain.

Interesting facts • Arthritis is far from a new diseases scientist's found body's from 400 bc with arthritis. • There are over 100 forms of arthritis. • Girls are more then double then likely to get arthritis then boys. • Movement is one of the best treatment options for arthritis. • Arthritis is the most common form of disability in the united states
