  1. Animal Rescue League • Feral Cats

  2. What are Feral Cats? • A domestic animal that has reverted back to a wild state is considered feral • Lost or abandoned cats can survive only 2-4 years on their own • Feral cats face death by starvation, disease, inclement weather, traffic, and predatory animals

  3. Why care about Feral Cats? • A single breeding pair of feral cats, over the course of 7 years, can produce 420,000 offspring • US animal shelters routinely euthanize 15 million unwanted pets a year

  4. What to do • Simply feedingferal cats does not solve the problem! • Extra food often brings in more cats to the area • Food left outdoors attracts other animals • Contact the Animal Rescue League’s Feral Cat Program • Neuter your pets!

  5. What we do • Capture, neuter, and vaccinate feral cats and return them to their territories • Stabilizes the population at manageable levels • Eliminates annoying mating-related behavior • Colonies defend their territories against newcomers • Allows cats to live out natural lives • Teams of volunteers maintain food and shelter for the feral cat colonies • Dishes are picked up after every daily feeding

  6. Help Us! • Report feral cat colonies • Donate cat food and old blankets • Volunteer your time • Support our low-cost spay/neuter program
