Royal class women Isabella d'Este • Woman was supposed to marry well, be loyal to her husband and give birth to boys. • Many women did not fit the mold of what they called a "Renaissance Woman.“ • Subservient to men. • They were dependent on their male relatives to support them • They were used to forge alliances with other powerful families through arranged marriages.

  3. Lower class women • lower classes were also expected to obey the male members of their families without question. • women would not have attended school or received any formal type of education • learn how to govern a household and become skilled in all housewifely duties.

  4. Family Life for Women • Disobedience was seen as a crime against their religion • women were expected to marry to increase the wealth and position of the family and then to produce children
