Mission Statement: AIChE Pilot Plant Area 12B The Pilot Plant Area is a forum for active interchange of ideas and for the continual improvement of Pilot Plant contributions to quality research and effective scale-up. AIChE programming, benchmarking, operation reviews, and extensive networking form the backbone of the Area activities.

Benchmarking Objectives • Compile “norms” and “best practices” in areas of interest to Pilot Plant group • Survey members from a cross section of CPI • Disseminate results • In a way that members and organizations can benchmark effectively with • In a format that does not raise competitive issues

  6. Benchmarking Topics • Business objectives for pilot plants • Staffing for construction and operation of Pilot Plants • Pilot Plant Automation • Environment, Health and Safety in Pilot Plants

  7. Methodology • Survey questionnaire drafted by team • Multiple choice format with room for comments • Reviewed at AIChE area meetings, member comments incorporated • Survey sent by e-mail to PDD membership • Responses compiled
