  1. Objectives By the end of this chapter the student will be able to :- State the functional areas of the Horizon II macro cabinet. • Describe the functions and operation of the Horizon II macro Digital modules. • Describe the cabinet RF Components.

The Horizon II macro BTS hardware supports the following functionality: • Support of 6x double density CTU2 Single or Double carrier per Radio. • Horizon II Site Controller (HIISC) • Integrated NIU Integrated FMUX • E1 support Enhanced E1 Redundancy • Increased Capacity/removable flash media • Increased RSL functionality • Expansion of Horizon II macro cabinets to support 24 carriers per BTS site. Horizon II Expansion Multiplexer (XMUX) Site Input/Output (I/O) Panel • Interoperability with current M-Cell and HORIZON macro products

  6. Cabinet Power Supply Maximum 4x PSU per cabinet – One for Redundancy Depends on the number of Radios fitted. The Cabinet can support the three types of power supply • +27V (negative earth) • -48V (positive earth) • Nominal 120/240V AC

  9. Power Supply Units All three unit types support the same PSU Alarms: • O/P over/under voltage. • I/P under voltage. • Over temperature. • Internal Fan failure.

Status LEDs Compact Flash Slot • Compact Flash Card slot – contains 32Mb of memory. • TTY MMI – connection for 9 pin D type connector. • Reset Buttons • CPU – is a Soft Reset (Reset Controllers Main Processors. Software remains in RAM). • FULL – is a Hard reset. Removes software from memory. Reset Buttons TTY MMI • CAL PORT – Calibrates the Sync Block. The 8K Reference is used in GCLK calibration.   14. Cabinet Expansion • The Cabinet can be expanded up to 3x Horizon II macro Cabinets • Can be expanded with Horizonmacro and Mcell6 cabinet combinations. • Expansion Kit – 1x XMUX card 1x Input/Output (I/O) card 1x 2m Fibre Optic cable

  17. Cabinet Temperature Control • Operating range -5 C to +45 C • Three Internal FAN units – speed controlled • 3x Cabinet Temperature Sensors – • 1x (70 C) for cabinet alarm • 2x (85 C) to shutdown the cabinet, reset at 55 C.

  18. Horizon II Site Controller (HIISC) • Performs functions of: MCUF, NIU, FMUX and BPSM in Horizonmacro cabinet. • Cabinet supports 2x HIISC cards Master/Slave ( redundancy) • Compact Flash card (32 Mbyte memory)
