HyoungJun Kim (khj@etri.re.kr) Telecommunications Technology Association CJK Standards Collaboration - Brief overview of CJK NID WG 2007. 4. 9.
Contents • CJK N-ID Background • CJK N-ID WG Activities • CJK Collaboration • Future Plan
I. CJK N-ID Background (1/2) • Background of CJK N-ID Collaboration • N-ID (Network aspects of ID; Networked ID) technology standardization has started at ITU-T CG-NID, JCA-NID, SGs(SG13, SG17, SG16, etc.) • Mutual collaboration among China, Japan and Korea is very important at the present time.
I. CJK N-ID Background (2/2) • History of CJK N-ID WG • During the 6th CJK Standards Meeting (Hangzhou, April, 2006.), CJK N-ID WG was proposed with its mission statements. • After the meeting, China and Japan endorsed the creation of this WG via e-mail. • The first meeting of CJK N-ID WG was held in Tokyo, Japan, October 2006. • Its second meeting was held in Jeju, Korea, February 2007. • The third meeting is being held at this time, April 2007.
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (2/9) • 1st meeting, Tokyo, Japan, in October 2006 • Contributions • 5 contributions were presented. • History and summary of N-ID activities in ITU-T • TTC views on N-ID • TTC organization on N-ID • Work methods and process of CJK N-ID WG • Candidate subjects for collaboration among CJK • 1 meeting report was made. • Agreed and nominated at the meeting • WG structure and ToR • Email reflector for CJK N-ID WG • Chair: Hyoungjun KIM (Korea) • Vice chairs: Xueli ZHANG (China) and Noboru Koshizuka (Japan)
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (3/9) • 1st meeting, Tokyo, Japan, in October 2006 • CJK N-ID WG Structure CJK PL. Coordination Coordination B3G WG NiDs WG NGN WG Management (1CH+2VC) TG 1(Task Group 1) TG n(Task Group n)
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (4/9) • 1st meeting, Tokyo, Japan, in October 2006 • ToR of CJK N-ID WG • Encouraging members' activity on N-ID standards • Collaboration for global standard activity: ITU SGs and other groups such as JTC1 SCs • Development of CJK requirements and contributions • Sharing information and experiences • Other collaboration issues which should be identified by the meeting Note: “JTC1 SCs” needs endorsement with further review.
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (5/9) • 1st meeting, Tokyo, Japan, in October 2006 • Roles and mandates of CJK N-ID WG
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (6/9) • 2nd meeting, Jeju, Korea, in February 2007 • Contributions • 11 contributions and 2 on-site contributions • Information sharing • ID and N-ID situation in China • Current situation of N-ID applications and services in Japan • RFID/USN Standardization in Korea & CJK Standards Collaboration • N-ID Activities in ITU-T Q.2/17 and Q.10/17 • Current status of N-ID Security related issues in SG17 • Current status of JCA-NID and TSAG • Status of the current activities on N-ID of SG16 • Current status of N-ID related Standards development of ITU-T SG13
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (7/9) • 2nd meeting, Jeju, Korea, in February 2007 • Discussion on N-ID definition • N-ID is a name of an ICT technology area including network information services triggered by automatically recognized IDs (identifiers) stored in small tags such as RFIDs, barcodes, 2D barcodes and so on. • The networked ID sees that recognition of (or obtaining) identifier is out of scope and an implementation issue at ID terminals. • N-ID is featured by the following issues: • ID for broader targets such as real objects as well as virtual objects like digital contents, locations and places, animals, humans, and so on. • Generalization of ID tags • Open and global network
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (8/9) • 2nd meeting, Jeju, Korea, in February 2007 • Discussion on proposed scope of Y.idserv-reqts • Proposed B2C and B2B2C-type ID applications need to be covered first. • Agreed Q2/13 should take care for this issue.
II. CJK N-ID WG Activities (9/9) • 2nd meeting, Jeju, Korea, in February 2007 • Discussion on CJK collaboration • Practical collaboration of N-IDs Standards • Proposed one step forward in technology and collaboration among CJK should be done to finish “exchange information”, initiate functional architecture works as early as possible and identify position and role of CJK meeting. • Proposed CJK Collaboration Works On N-ID • Proposed coordination items: • Y.idserv-reqts vs. H.xxx for NID service descriptions and requirements • Y.idserv-fra(expected) vs. H.xxx for architecture • Proposed collaboration items: • SG17 activities: X.rfpg; X.rfidsec-1; X.520 AMD 3; X.RA-nid • SG16 activities: New ID code schemes; Code resolution issues; Multimedia representation
III. CJK Collaboration • Principle philosophy • Not an issue whatever SG handlesregarding N-ID issues, but overlaps and duplications should be avoided. • Before going into ITU-T meeting, prior CJK collaboration should be encouraged. • Technical collaboration
IV. Future Plan • 3rd meeting, Jeju, Korea, in April 2007 • Information sharing for status updates • Discussion about Requirement, Functional Architecture, and Multimedia Aspects of NID • Discussion of hot Priority Issues and Future plan for NID among CJK
