Homework 1… Reading How did we get on? • You should have been able to complete some reading after the last session • How did you find it? • CONNECT: How does it connect to what you know already? • EXTEND: How did it extend your thinking? New ideas? • CHALLENGE: What is still challenging or confusing you? Tool 22

  3. Consulting Literature • Why is it important to consult literature? (Tool 11) • How can we obtain reading resources? • Google • Tool 12 – searching online • Sharing resources – shows leadership • How do we evidence our reading? • Creating an evidence sheet outlining what you have found that has informed your project (adapt layout of Tool 10) • Not necessary for reading that was not useful or didn’t impact on project • Use phrases such as… “This was useful…”, “I disagreed with…” • Be aware of the need for references for your portfolio – if you use it, reference it (Tool 48)

In pairs discuss… Discuss and create a visual representation of your discussion… (this could be words and / or pictures) • What is professional knowledge? • Where does it come from? • Who creates it? • How is it different from academic knowledge? • How can we improve professional knowledge within our own areas or whole school?

  5. What’s the difference? What is the difference between: Knowledge dissemination Knowledge transfer communicating knowledge – telling someone mutually beneficial collaborations, two way exchange of knowledge, engaging others

  6. Knowledge Creation • In order to build our own knowledge, we need to consult (Tool 21) • Task this week – consult with others about your action plan • The action plan is an evolving process so it can be altered

  7. Planning for Enquiry… Sam’s story • Read through Sam’s example (Tool 25) • Look over the ‘elements in a process of development’ sheet (Tool 2) • Discuss what Sam’s group might have done • What did Sam’s group actually do?
