Organization • Getting organized is essential to fourth grade success! • Folders: Green Homework Folder • Newsletter • Data will be in green folder
Homework Homework is assigned on a daily basis. Assignments are copied into the planner every afternoon. Reading 30 minutes Math Workbook page Wordly Wise Wednesdays
Grading • Grades are based on unit and chapter tests, quizzes, class work assignments, and projects. • Graph tests at home. • All graded tests and quizzes will be sent home for review. Return work that is stamped.

Language Arts • We will use the reading series and leveled readers. • Reading Essential Skills • Dolphin Time will begin September 24th with a differentiated focus to meet the needs of all readers. • Spelling (Magic Hat Words) • Wordly Wise (wordlywise3000.com)

Science/Social Studies • Approximately four week units. • Science: Magnetism/Electricity, Earth in the Universe, Rocks and Minerals, Ecosystems, Nutrition • Social Studies: North Carolina State Symbols, Regions, Map Skills, Government, Economy, History
AR Reading • Each child takes the STAR test to determine their ZPD, zone of proximal development. • Goals are set based on their individual reading level. • Students should have 1 fiction and 1 non-fiction book checked out from the library. • Reading 30 minutes at home • AR Winner’s Circle Parties • AR Progress from home website
Classroom Management • Conduct is managed using a “clip” system. • Students exhibiting inappropriate or irresponsible behavior will “clip down” and students exhibiting positive behavior will “clip up”. • Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful
