Accelerator Applications Division Mission The division was organized to promote the advancement of knowledge of the use of particle accelerator technologies for nuclear and other applications.  It focuses on production of photons, neutrons and other particles, utilization of these particles for scientific or industrial purposes, such as the production or destruction of radionuclides significant to energy, medicine, defense or other endeavors, as well as imaging and diagnostics.

  9. AAD Contributions to ANS • ANS Position Statements • Naturally Occurring or Accelerator-produced Radioactive Materials – in discussion with ANS • Transmutation of Nuclear Waste – in discussion with Fuel Cycle and Waste Management Division. Should be jointly issued shortly.

AAD Participations with other Professional Societies • AccApp’09 “International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Research Applications and Utilization of Accelerators”: 54 countries, 348 participants; in lovely Vienna Austria with IAEA • AccApp’07: 26 countries, 260 participants. In Pocatello, Idaho with IAEA • AccApp’05 Venice, Italy with IAEA
