French and Indian War • Nine year war between French and Britain in North America. • Britain won and became the dominance power in North America. • Britain was in debt after the war, they also earned a lot of land and needed to raise revenue for troops. • The colonists benefit from the war so Britain has to tax the colonists. • The Indians don’t have to ability to play off the rival European powers against one another.

  8. Overview • Although the first shot of the American Revolution were fired in 1775, trouble between Britain and its colonies had been building up for many years. The British policy toward the colonies changed drastically following the French and Indian War. At that time, Britain has to raise revenue in America to pay down its national debt and to provide for colonial defenses. The colonists refused to pay these tax and led to conflicts between Britain and the colonist.
