  7. Physical Changes • Changes: • Homeostasis - is the property of a system, either open or closed, that regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain a stable, constant condition. • Functional Reserve – body’s ability to adapt to changes, decreases in older senior.

Ostomy • Colostomy - is a when a small portion of the colon (large intestine) is brought to the surface of the abdominal wall to allow stool to be eliminated. • Ileostomy - an opening created in the small intestine to bypass the colon for stool elimination. The end of the ileum, which is the lowest part of the small intestine, is brought through the abdominal wall to form a stoma. • Urostomy is a surgical procedure that diverts urine away from a diseased or defective bladder.
