INDICATION • RA, OA, inflammation, mild to moderate pain • Ibuprofen: also indicated for migraines. • Indomethacin: also indicated for gouty arthritis • ACTION • inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and /or COX-2) which decreases prostaglandin synthesis • WARNINGS • black box warning for drug class concerning cardiovascular and GI risks. Take with food. Avoid alcohol, APAP and ASA. D/D • INTERACTIONS • ASA, biphosphonates, warfarin

WARNINGS • Oral use • tablets should be swallowed whole with 180-240ml of plain water. Patient is to remain upright for at least 60minutes after dosing. Weekly: take on same day each week. Monthly: take on same day each month Jan 10th, Feb 10th etc. • IV use • must be given intravenously and not intraarterially to avoid tissue damage. Not to be mixed with other IV medications. • adequate calcium and vit D intake essential. • Report signs of esophageal issues.

WARNINGS • take with food. Take in the morning. Side effects more prominent with extended use • INTERACTIONS • ASA, diuretics, phenytoin(hydantoins) • ADDITIONAL NOTES • Dosing: very individual. Lowest possible dose should be used.

WARNINGS • several food interactions, antacids, anticoagulants, phenytoin. • Black box warning: should not be used alone or in combination with other therapeutic agents for obesity. May cause serious or life threatening manifestations of toxicity.
