Creating a Series Using AutoFill • Enter one or two initial values • Select the range of cells containing the initial values • Select and drag the fill handle through the rest of the cells Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
Excel Financial Functions • FV - Future value • PV - Present value • PMT - Computes periodic payments • RATE - Computes rate of return • DDB - Computes an asset’s depreciation • IRR - Computes an internal rate of return Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
Using the FV Function • Format: FV(rate, nper, pmt) where • rate is the interest rate per period • nper is the number of periods • pmt is the payments made each period Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
Protecting Cells in a Worksheet • In a protected worksheet: • Data in protected cells cannot be changed • Rows cannot be inserted or deleted • Cell formats cannot be modified • Column widths cannot be changed • Only values in unprotected cells can be changed Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
Unlocking Individual Cells • By default, every cell has the locked property turned on but the worksheet is not protected • Implementing cell protection takes two steps: 1. Turn off the locks in the cells you want unprotected 2. Activate the protection command Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
Unlocking Cells • Select the cells you want unprotected • Select Format Cells,and push theProtection tab • Uncheck the Lockedcheck box Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
Protecting the Worksheet • Enforces the lock/unlock property of each cell • Select Tools Protection Protect Sheet Intro to Excel - Session 7.2
