The Big Sing Thing Choir We were delighted to listen to the Big Sing Thing Choir with pupils from Oaktree School. The choir, led by Val Weston, got the Great Western Hall ringing to the sound of ‘This Old Hammer’ specially reworded with STEAM in mind; ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ and ‘When the Saints’. With Val’s encouragement delegates participated in the singing. www.swindonsp.org.uk
Speakers On the day we heard from various speakers around Volunteering and what volunteers mean to them and the organisations they represent. The presentations can be viewed on the SSP Website. www.swindonsp.org.uk
World Café Delegates were invited to pre-select 3 tables from a choice of 24 to participate in discussions around various ‘Stuck Issues’ relating to the theme of the day. Each delegate picked 3 sessions and each session ran for 20 minutes. Tables hosts were encouraged to note their discussions. The World Café table discussion summary document is now available on the SSP Website. www.swindonsp.org.uk
Conference Close Tom Charnock, Chair of the SSP Overview & Monitoring Group officially closed the Conference and thanked the delegates for their enthusiastic participation. Tom encouraged delegates to return to the Hall after lunch to enjoy the Market Place session and continue to network with other delegates and colleagues. Filming of the Conference took place on the day including speakers and their presentations. These films are available on the SSP Website. www.swindonsp.org.uk
Market Place & Networking The afternoon was dedicated to a Market Place session with 19 stalls from a wide range of organisations and community groups.
