The Answer • The Epic of Gilgamesh tablets were found in 1853 in Northern Iraq, or in the Assyrian Royal Library. It was unable to be deciphered and was stored in the British National Museum with other tablets, until the discovery of a tablet that could help translate the writing of cuneiform and help decipher the other tablets as well.
