Easter Island Heads • Easter Island heads were made in 300-400 BC • They are located on Easter Island in South America • They were made to represent ancestors, to show power and important symbols Interesting Facts • One of the most isolated islands in the world, but 1200 years ago people from another culture landed on it’s shores • Statues are made of volcanic rock • Also know as “moai” • People of Easter Island called themselves the Rapa Nui

Machu Picchu • It is in South America, Peru in the middle of nowhere • A town was built on top of the mountain in 1440 • The people built it there for god agricultural reasons and the Inca’s needed the area Interesting Facts • It is 7,710 feet above sea level deep in the Amazon Jungle above the Urubamba River • 750 people lived in the ancient city • It said that the silhouette of the mountain range behind Machu Picchu represents the face of the Inca looking upward towards the sky, with the largest, Huayna Picchu representing his nose.
