  2. Who was Juno? • Juno was the roman goddess of marriage and childbirth. • A guardian to women of the world • Juno was the queen of the Roman gods. • She was also called great mother

  3. Her family • She was the sister and wife of Jupiter • Her brothers were Pluto and Neptune • Her sisters were Vesta and Ceres • Her children were Mars, Hebe, and Vulcan • Her parents were Saturn and Rhea

Juno • As the goddess of marriage juno restores peace between quarreling couples. • One of her temples was a sanctuary for women who needed shelter from cruel husbands. • Today many people consider the mouth June which was named after the goddess is said to be the most favorable mouth for marriage. • Accordingly all newborn babies are said to be blessed and guarded by Juno.

  5. Juno • Juno was also noted for her husbands affairs And her jealous reaction to them. • She persistently tormented the offspring's of her husbands infidelities. • Juno was also did rituals designed to right the wrongs done to women

  6. Juno • Juno sacred symbols were the peacock the cowry shell and the three loped lily. Chariot was pulled by peacocks

  7. Juno • With her sacred lily she conceived the god Mars with out the help of her husband Jupiter and she became the blessed virgin Juno. • The three loped lily that represented her power was inherited by virgin Mary who still retains it.

  8. Juno Every year on the first day of march the martons of Rome held a festival called the Matronalia to praise Juno and thank her for her help. During the festival they asked the goddess to bless their marriage and help them give birth to happy babies.

  9. Juno juno is on roman coins on the coins she is seen in many forms the most common show her with a child in her arms and two at her feet.
