This project involves testing a large amplifier at Daresbury, conducting electric checks, retesting driver amplifiers, and reporting results by mid-December 2009. Starting in January 2010, a study will begin on MICE hall RF layout, coax systems, component sizes, and construction methods under the hall floor - with a report due after 3 months. If funding allows, CAD visualization of the RF layout will be done. The rebuild and test of the large amplifier will start in April 2010 and last 6 months. In autumn 2010, the first large amplifier system will be disassembled, transported to RAL, installed in MICE hall, and prepared for testing. A report on the RF layout installation will be prepared, along with a design specification if changes are necessary.

RF work plan • Test first large amplifier at Daresbury • Electric checks are being made now • Driver amplifiers being retested now • Expect results mid Dec 09 • Study of requirements/desires for MICE hall RF layout, coax systems, component sizes and method to construct under MICE hall floor – starting Jan 10 – report after 3 months • CAD visualisation of RF layout required
If funding allows – rebuild and test of large amplifier 2 beginning April 2010 – 6 months • Disassembly of first large amplifier system and power supplies, transport to RAL, install in MICE hall and prepare for test in area, autumn 2010 • Prepare report into RF layout installation for step 5 and specification of design for step 6 if changes are needed
