Plan a Rigorous Curriculum • Rigorous Curriculum for College Preparation • Every student deserves a college prep education • English 4 years • Math 3-4 years • Social Studies 3-4 years • Science 3 years, one with lab • Foreign language 2-3 years • Physical Education 2 years • Fine Arts 1 year or more • Electives to make 24+ credits

  13. Keep High School Records • Keep things required by state law • Make a transcript every year • Keep what you need for course descriptions • Keep a reading list • Keep a list of activities and awards • Keep work samples from each class • Begin in junior high (7th or 8th grade) for practice

Apply Yourself to Admission Process • Junior year is critical • PSAT in fall • College Fairs and College Visits • SAT or ACT in Spring • Decide where to apply • Senior year applications • Apply early in the fall • Technically perfect self-reflective essay • Details forms take time • Inflexible deadlines with monetary consequences
