3. Mawuli Olivierre Touching spirit Bear is a novel about a Young man name Cole Mathews who was brought up under abusive condition. Cole suffered verbal, physical and emotional abuse from his father. As a result, Cole was very violent toward others and is constantly getting into trouble. Ultimately, Coles reckless behavior causes him to beat up on another young man named Peter Driscal. Peter is seriously injured and Cole is brought before a community intervention organization called the Circle of Justice. As an alternate method of rehabilitation, the Circle of Justice agrees to send Cole to a secluded location in Alaska. On this Island, Cole goes through a life changing transformation that also contributes to the healing process of Peter Driscal. My Literature Extension projection uses pictures and animation to highlight the events that led to Cole’s transformation. My intention is to provide a pictorial illustration of how Cole was able to change his world view. In the book Coles, learns to closely observer the animals in his surrounding in order to get a better or deeper understanding of life. In fact, as he watched the animals on the island, he was able to gain a lesson from the animal that he was later able to transfer into his own life.

4. My first slide presents a collogues of the animals that Cole encountered. They all have played an important part of his survival as well as helping him to receive new revelations about life. Some of this these animals were food for Cole that he learned to respect because at one point his existence was very independent on their demise. The second slide depicts one of the most important aspects of Cole recovery which is the spirit dancing. This slide is an animation that I created to demonstrate the lessons that Cole learned for the animals as he danced. The character the animals becomes a modle that Cole is able to draw from. This is the section of the book that really demonstrates how the human and the animal world are closely connected. For example, some of the character quality that the Cole notice from the animals are what many humans aspire to have and have a hard time attaining.
