Qualifications of the Pastor1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-16 • Social Qualifications • “Blameless” - to have nothing in one’s conduct on which someone could ground a charge or accusation • “Hospitable” -kindness to strangers • Moral Qualifications • "Husband of one wife" • "Not given to wine“ • Mental Qualifications • "Sober" temperate, of a sound mind • “vigilant” self–controlled • “Of good behaviour” orderly, decent • "Apt to teach" ability but also readiness to teach

Qualifications of the Pastor1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-16 • Personality Qualifications • "Not a brawler”; "no striker" not quarrelsome or a fighter but gentle • 2 Timothy 2:24 • "Not greedy of filthy lucre”; "not covetous" Greed and covetousness go together • 1 Timothy 6:6-10 • Domestics Qualifications • “One that ruleth well his own house” demonstrate his ability to rule his own home in a godly way • Maturity Qualifications • “Not a novice” one who is but lately converted to Christianity and newly implanted in the Church, newly instructed or a novice

The Deacons • Deacon (διάκονοςdiákonos) - A minister, servant (Phil. 1:1, 1 Tim 3:8) • In Phil. 1 :1, we find the Deacons mentioned along with the bishops as a recognized group laboring among the believers. • The Deacons are not to rule, but to aid the Pastor in his work and the spiritual life of the church. (Acts 6:3-4)

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE • Rom. 13:1-8; I Tim 2:1-5 • Acts 5:29 (KJV) Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. • Mark 12:17 (KJV) And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.
