Work inside of class together so we can make headway on these. • Acquiring information (facts, principles, concepts) • Learning how to use information and knowledge in new situations • Developing lifelong learning skills
What is a 4.0? In the university grading system Quantity PERCENTAGE of mastery = PERCENTAGE grade
What is a 4.0? In the university grading system Quality Quality of work = Level of grade
What is a 4.0? In the university grading system • If a student does what was asked of them on an assignment and does a pretty good job what’s the grade supposed to be? • 4.0 • 3.5 • 3.0 • 2.5 • other
What is a 4.0? In the university grading system • The “4.0” is Outstanding is the student blew you away with how much and how well they did the work. They taught you something you didn’t know. • A “3.5” is Most Excellent every detail of their work was done extremely well and they found additional papers and evidence beyond what they were told/expected to do, to complete their work. • A “3.0” is Excellent is impressive work, top of the class, and their work was done extremely well but nothing beyond what was expected. • 2.0-2.5 "Pretty Good" the student did the work required and a pretty good job, the average in the class.

Integrating Questions • Carbons # 3’ and 5’ respectively • Carbons # 2’ and 3’ respectively • Carbons # 2’ and 5’ respectively • Carbons #2 and 3 respectively • None of the above 1. Which carbon in dATP is missing the oxygen found in ATP? Which deoxyribose carbon is attached to the string of three phosphates?
Integrating Questions • phosphates would attract • phosphates would repel • phosphates are too big to fit • phosphates would form covalent bonds • None of the above 2. Speculate why a triple-stranded DNA molecule with the negatively charged phosphates in the center would be unstable and thus not a good model.
Integrating Questions • One strand’s words should spell backwards • One strand’s phosphates should move inside • One strand should be upside-down • More than one hydrogen bond should be there • None of the above 3. Look at the Figure and find the misleading aspect of the diagram, given the two strands are supposed to be anti-parallel. What should be done to correct this historic figure?
Integrating Questions • A=T have two hydrogen bonds • G=C have three hydrogen bonds • G + A are bigger and C + T are smaller • two bases cannot pair with just one • None of the above 4. If the DNA had a uniform diameter of 20 Å, why did the bases have to pair one A for each T, and one G for each C base?
Integrating Questions 1. (write) What’s the controversy connected to these famous images? [Who, what, when, why?]
Integrating Questions 2. What’s the interesting about this famous image? [Who, what, where, when, why?]
