The Prison Memoirs of a Roman Christian Martyr: Perpetua’sStory Thomas Heffernan (University of Tennessee, Knoxville) Tuesday 20 November , 5-6.30pm Ertegun House, 37A St Giles’ Professor Heffernan is the author of The Passion of Perpetua and Felicity (OUP 2012), a new edition, translation, and commentary of this remarkable text – an account, told in the first person, of the imprisonment and condemnation of a young Christian, Perpetua, and her slave Felicitas. This lecture is being given as a prelude to the very first full performance of ‘Perpetua’, a dramatic cantata by Nick Bicât, based on the account of Perpetua’s imprisonment, to be given in Christ Church Cathedral on Thursday 22 November.
